Many of our customers for the Hinoki Bath items have asked us about a larger Bath Stool that is more comfortable to sit on. This one is 9" tall and has a much larger seat.
It measures: 30.5 X 18 X 23 cm Tall (12" X 7" X 9" Tall) - Quite a bit larger than the standard size!
Hand made in Gifu Japan in the traditional way. It is made of the finest Japanese Hinoki Wood and will last many years. Made completely in the traditional way, this high quality 'furo-Isu' or Japanese Bath Stool is made of real fragrant 'Kiso Hinoki' Cypress Wood. This is the stool which one sits on while washing outside the bath tub. These are hand-made for us in Gifu Prefecture, famous for its fine Hinoki and Sawara Cypress wood. Most of the finest bath accessories come from this part of Japan. Hinoki and Sawara Cypress are waterproof and resistant to rot and give off the most wonderful fragrance when wet. The oils in the sap are said to be excellent for the skin. Traditionally, this wood was used to make the bath tub itself but these are considered an extravagant luxury now as they are extremely expensive. These solid wooden stools are of the exact same type used at many fine Hot Spring 'Onsen' resorts all over Japan. Beautifully made by expert craftsmen, they will last for many years.

AND CAN'T GO BY REGULAR AIRMAIL - EMS SHIPPING ONLY... MADE IN JAPAN! NOTE: Shipping rates for these items go by weight only so it is not usually much cheaper in multiples or to combine.

The usual delivery time is about 10 days to 2 weeks but it has been known to take up to 6 weeks. If you wish us to calculate combined, multiple-item shipping, hit: REQUEST TOTAL. We can not ship everyday so pick-up is arranged with the Post Office about twice a week. Your item goes in the first shipment after it is in stock, packed and ready to go. IMPORTANT: Note that only EMS (Express) shipping has point to point tracking from Japan so if you select Standard Airmail you will not be able to track your item and the number will only be the postal receipt number. For an fee, we can add a registration number to your package which will require a signature upon delivery but not tracking.

IMPORTANT: 2020 PANDEMIC SHIPPING NOTE
Note that due to reduced flights, JAPAN POST has suspended Air Parcel service to the USA, Australia and a few other countries (Europe is not effected). It is not known how long this will last but in the meantime, we are using JAPAN POST SURFACE mail which has tracking and insurance but can take about 60 days to the USA.
Alternatively, for an additional charge, YAMATO INTERNATIONAL offers extremely fast door to door service for a flat-rate for their various size boxes. The smallest “60cm” box is to most countries, can hold up to two kg and measures 27 X 19 X 19cm and arrives in about a week.
Note that as these measures are temporary, we can not change the existing rates for all of our hundreds of listings but will notify you immediately if it effects your purchase.
